Considering all that mankind has done and still does to planet Earth, isn't it understandable that the team may feel a little bummed by the impending introduction of a man into the world they have worked so hard to create?
Of course, in the eternal perspective of things, Earth was created so that we could have a place in which to live, learn and grow. I believe one of the things we have to learn is to live in harmony with one another and with the land which is our stewardship.
Until we learn to do that, we are steering this vessel we call home in a dangerous direction. As I saw in a bumper sticker (or was it a t-shirt?): "Take care of the Earth and the Earth will take care of you."
